OCD Closets

We now have two new OCD closets in our house. A few weeks ago Kirk2, Konnor, and I tackled the closet in the boys room. This week K2 redid K3's closet. The shelves look awesome but you know how much I love sorting through all those clothes.....NOT! It does feel good to get things like this done over Xmas break.

A Christmas Break to remember.....

Kraig in the horizontal position that lasted 7 days!

The trailblazer's front end after the telephone pole got in the way!

Not a really positive start to xmas break. Kraig came home sick with Strep on thursday and by monday had a secondary infection of his mouth. Needless to say, he did nothing but lay on the couch for 7 days. His mouth and lips were covered in blisters which made eating and drinking next to impossible. I think he said he lost 8 pounds this week. Konnor went to the doctor on Monday with a staph infection on his glutious maximus (butt). He too went on oral antibiotics and cream. Had a sore little tushy for a few days though. Then on Thursday we redid K3's closet. It looks great but the sorting was obnoxious! Thursday and Friday K3 had basketball tournament games. They came in 2nd. Could have won 1st but they played crappy on Friday. Before the game I was taking Kraig to a friends and slid into a telephone pole....hence the V looking front end. Of course, police report, insurance claim, and $1,500 estimate left me feeling anything but Christmas Cheer.

Week wrap-up

Kayla and Konnor's snowman....poor thing already lost his eyeballs.
Wednesday Kraig had his last basketball game against Albion. What a way to end a season?! They definitely can play basketball. Kirk3 had his Christmas Concert that night also. It was very nicely done. It featured the Jazz band, HHS band, both HHS Choirs, orchestra, and many solo performances. You definitely got your monies worth with this 2 1/2 hour performance. Kraig came home from school sick on Thursday with Strep throat. He is still out of it on the couch this morning. Now that school is done for a few weeks.....we have shifted into Operation Xmas mode. K2 is going out this morning to finish up shopping and then we have to quickly wrap everything before we start unwrapping on Monday morning at Putnam's. I am meeting my parents in Jtown tonight to celebrate my mom's birthday tonight. Happy Birthday MOM!

SNOWDAY

Kirk3 and his buddies before the Snowball Dance! Yes, I had to steal them from someone elses pictures because we weren't home.

Nothing is better than finding out about a snowday before you go to bed. What a relief!! We can bring the tree in tomorrow and get some things done that didn't get done because we were shopping.

It's beginning to look a lot like ......

a tundra! At least it sure is more snow than we have had in a long time. We woke up this morning and the first thing Konnor said was "you gotta see the snowman mom!" The poor thing was buried up to his eyeballs and only his arm made it out. I for one would like a snowday tomorrow but I know we won't be that lucky. Kirk and I did our annual Powershop Marathon. Seriously got to figure a better way to get our shopping done next year.....I know I said the same thing last year too. We left Hillsdale at about 9:30 and got back 12 hours later. Mr. and Mrs. P came down to watch the boys. We did get a lot accomplished but what a headache?! Today we worked our fannies off....literally. The guys all went out to shovel out this morning and I stayed inside to clean the house. I think I got the better deal. Then we pilled in the truck and plowed through the snow on the roads to go get our tree. Now the snow was actually thigh high in spots but we did manage to find a nice one. Definitely didn't look at every tree this year. It is now thawing out in a bucket in the garage. Hopefully we can find two seconds this week to get it in the house. Another reason for wanting a snowday tomorrow. This week there is at least 2 things going on each night. When will this crazy lifestyle end?!

What's happening in our neck of the woods!

Kraig has had a few games already this season but I haven't had the chance to download these pictures. He has played very aggressively and done a good job on defense. The end scores have not left DMS the winners but the games have been fun to watch. K3's team came out on top against East Jackson tonight. I stayed home to go to Weight Watchers and to be with Kraig (home sick today with a bad headache). Good news for me though tonight because I met my lifetime goal (little gold key) and can now attend WW for the rest of my life for free as long as I stay within 2 lbs. of my goal weight. I haven't said much about my weight loss efforts but tonight is definitely worth mentioning. I have now lost 12 lbs. and have two more to go before I hit the original 10% body weight goal. YIPPEE!!

What do you want for Xmas?

Picture of Grandma and Grandpa Warren at the Read to Me after Thanksgiving Program. The boys had to dress like Homeys......
hence the baller hat Konnor is sporting in this pic.

I think the only thing that would be on my list this week is a Body Double. Not a Double Body....I think I have pretty much taken care of that problem at Weight Watchers. I just need a clone....you know someone to stand in for me. I have too many places to be this week and not enough of me to go around. We have 4 games this week and a couple of Dr. Apts., Weight Watchers, choir concert, etc. that need to be done at the same time. Yikes!! Monday Kraig is at Albion and I also have an appointent at 4. Tuesday Kirk3 has a game at East Jackson HS and I have Weight Watchers before I can go to that game. K2 has an end of the year football meeting and won't be able to go to the game. Wednesday Kraig has a game at home. Thursday K2 has a dentist appointment in Jackson with the specialist, K3 has PT conferences, and Kraig has his DMS Choir Concert. Oh, boy! Friday K3 has a game at home. Yeppers, I really need a CLONE!

The NEW cottage on Crooked Lake!!

I probably made the quickest trip to and from the cottage of my entire life. My mom and dad asked me to meet them at the cottage on Saturday afternoon for a tour. The new cottage is INCREDIBLE!! It is HUGE and takes up quite a bit of the lake lot. I love the floor plan and look forward to moving them in this spring(or before). I think the family will definitely enjoy going to the cottage to kick back on the large front deck. I know I can picture myself sitting in the lounge chair with a frozen drink in my hand (Weight Watchers, of course!) The view is AWESOME!! Congrats on the great looking house.

Just the boys!

Kirk2 and Kirk3 just happened to dress alike Saturday morning. I thought it was kind of funny. They thought I was just wierd. What's new right. K3 had a scrimmage in coldwater for most of the day. I stayed home and cleaned, did laundry, and grocery shopped. I also made a Thanksgiving dinner. Yummy!!

Lordy, Lordy Look who's 40!!

Ok, so that really doesn't mean much coming from someone who is almost 41! It still seemed like an appropriate title. Per Kirk's request, there was no big surprise party, just a dinner with the English's at Saucy Dog on Wednesday night. We spent Thanksgiving with his family so that was the biggest the birthday party got. Unfortunately the only good picture I got has Steven giving him moose ears. How nice?!

Football Banquet 2007

For the sake of nothing really earth shattering to report....i thought I would post the weekend wrap-up.

*K2 took Thursday and Friday off to hunt. Only saw 3 deer total and obviously none were freezer worthy so he was kind of bummed.

*He also spent Saturday morning in the Dentist with an infection in his jaw above his root canal/crown. Extremely painful....he spent the rest of the weekend on the couch hopped up on Tylenol 3 with Codiene.

*Saturday I cleaned (really, really cleaned) and did laundry. Seemed like I was more busy than that but I can't think of anything right now.

*Sunday I did the grocery shopping....went to Bunco at Misty's in Jackson (her last Bunco with the group...makes me very sad :(

*Sunday night was spent at the Football Banquet. It was kind of a bummer ending to our season so things weren't all that cheery. Hooey was there which was nice to see him back on his feet (or foot and crutches) again.

I think that I was a bear (hibernation) in my former life because I sure haven't felt like being very productive. Probably doesn't help that the back is still a little sore and seems to ache after doing too much activity. I hope that goes away soon. This week is short but busy. Kraig has a home game tonight, an away game tomorrow night, and K2 turns 40 on Thursday so we are going out to dinner on Wednesday. Good thing that Thanksgiving dinner is at Mrs. Putnam's so I don't really have to worry about getting anything else done. Hope everyone has a great relaxing holiday.

Friday night date!

Kayla was home this last weekend and she took konnor to the meet and greet the Hillsdale Chargers basketball team. Konnor thought that was really cool.....got a free t-shirt to boot. I will have to admit it was nice to have a little break from the boy too. His non-stop energy level can be draining! Thanks for giving me a break.

I've been a blogger pooper!

HOW EXCITING!!! Girls look at this new scrapbooking resort we have now!

So I haven't posted for over a week now and I need to get back on track. During K3' s and Kevin's b-day party last Sunday, I put my back out. I'm not talking about ouch....I got a booboo. But OMG it HURTS!! Can't stand up straight....can't sit on both cheeks....can't stand for more than 2 minutes....OUCH! I spent Monday on the couch with ice in my pants (yeah, Konnor decided to pick that day to stay home from school with a fever, sore throat, etc) and 2 trips to the chiropractor. Tuesday I had a sub, gave up my sub to a class that didn't have a sub, and then spent the rest of the day in sooo much pain I hated myself for giving the sub up. Tuesday after work, I had a short massage....couldn't stand to be in the lay down position too long and by Wednesday I could get almost straight. I wore my back brace and ice pack all week to work. I am still sore....but not even close to the amount of pain I was in. I did too much today and am paying now, but oh well, tomorrow is a new week.

SURPRISE!!

We had the best Surprise 16th birthday party for Kirk Friday night. He was truly surprised! I can't believe that all of those teenagers could keep a secret that well. Grandma Linda made a yummy chocolate cake and a cool banner. The kids hung out for a while....tried to stay warm around the bonfire....at watched Channel 19 (local station that replays the varsity football games). I think that a fun time was had by all. Happy 16th (November 5th)

Trick or Treat?

TRICK

TREAT

Well, I would say Konnor did most of the tricking and Kraig did most of the treat. Konnor and Drew decided to scare people and not trick or treat this year. Here is Konnor in the coffin getting ready to jump out at his next victim (he made 2 girls run and cry.....felt a little bad about that) and Drew acting like a deranged monster animal in the pen. Kraig and a group of his friends dressed up as the Austin Power movie theme. I will have to say Kraig definitely looked great. Grandma did a great job on the matching pants.

Halloween Fun

Konnor and I carved his pumpkin before he went to his Halloween party on Saturday night. We couldn't find the cool carving kit....so we decided to cut free hand....NOT a good idea! Quick picture of me after the Hornet Halloween walk through. I had to take the picture of me in Kayla's club soccer uniform. Not too shabby for 40?! Ahhhh....to be 19 again:)

1st round of playoffs.....WIN!

Getting ready for the BIG game! Equipped with his defensive player of the week wrist band :)

The Hornets looked great last night as they defeated Dundee 38-14. We travel to Onsted on Saturday night at 7 pm in the second round of playoffs. It is an exciting and very tense time around our house.

In other news....Konnor's team won 10-0 this morning in a very wet and cold season finale. Konnor didn't have any goals but had some great assists. We will now have a break from soccer until Spring.

Kraig made State Honors choir and will now begin traveling around the state of Michigan for rehearsals. He starts his trek next weekend in Midland and then Holland two weeks after that. The final concert is sometime in January at the DeVos Center. Pretty exciting adventure.

Isn't he adorable?!

Looking pretty comfy there Mr. Putnam! Kirk and his friend Sarah at a bom-fire.

8th grade Foodball Season Finale

The 8th grade Hornet team was able to win the last 3 games of the season, giving them a 3-3 record. Kraig had a great game on Wednesday night. He was definitely pumped up for that one. Tonight the Varsity Hornets take on Dundee at Home for the first round of the Division 5 playoffs. Hopefully the rain will hold out long enough for game. Good Luck Hornets!!

Technology....isn't it grand!

So I was creeping around on some of Kirk's friends facebook sites last night and ran across this cute picture. The HS had a dress up Halloween dance on Saturday night. K3 and a couple of his buddies.

Weekend Blur...

I don't think that too many people can appreciate how incredibly busy our lives are. I even have a hard time grasping it sometimes. This weekend was no exception....Friday night the Hornets lost a very disappointing game 26-21. We really only needed 1 more offensive play and I think we could have come out on top. K3 injured his neck on the one defensive play he went in for. Good news....he got the tackle...bad news ...he is still hurting today. I was most worried about him being able to turn his neck for his driving test on Saturday morning. Good news....he passed his driving test and he can go get his liscense in two weeks. K2 took Konnor to his soccer game because I was riding around in the back of K3's car trying not to talk....not an easy task for me. I had to sit on my hands and press my lips together. Konnor's team tied....he scored the last goal of the game. Yeah!! Then I got to spend a delightful day with Kay:) She had 2 soccer games at MSU so I went up to hang around with her for the day. She played great....however, MSU won the game. I was able to get a lot of great pics for her though. Today....well, today is another one of those catch up on everything that needs done before the week starts. The sun is shining and I am loving the wonderful breeze. This week is another crazy one. I will keep you posted. K:)

How low?

SOLO....yep, Kraig Putnam aka solo man....sang a solo at the concert on Tuesday night. Of course, Kirk and I were kept in the dark about this and didn't take a camera. We are anxiously waiting for Gwen to send us a picture.....she had her camera. He thought it would be a great surprise....well, surprise....no camera! This Saturday he is trying out for the State Honor's Choir. Good luck solo man!

Hornets defeat Fremont

#78.....as in Fremont Indiana....I know why would we even have a game in Indiana? Turned out to be a beautiful night to watch football though. The little black bugs caused a little bit of an issue but this nuisance was overcome by zipping my jacket up to my chin and covering up with a blanket. Yes, it was 71 degrees, but the bugs were horrible. I'm still itchy this morning. Kraig had a great game with many solo tackles. Sorry didn't get pictures of those. I am hoping my girlfriend did though. The Hornets were able to pull off a 34-6 win. Kraig announced on the way home "they are undefeated outside the state of Michigan!" Good way to look at it I guess. His last game is Wednesday at Home.

Soccer and Pumpkin Party

Saturday we were off and running like always. Konnor and I had a soccer game in the morning. He was able to score twice with both sets of grandparents looking on. Then we had the pumpkin party at 4. Lots of fun was had by all. It really didn't feel right without my Madi and Kaila this year. Konnor is off and running from the minute we get there until we leave. No one to hand out with....like last year. He even upped the anty this year and was on the spooky trail equiped with a mask and silly string. Needless to say he had a blast.
This week at a glance....Monday Kraig has a game in Fremont Indiana....no idea why?! Tuesday is football practice for both, weight watchers for me, and a choir concert at 7:30. Wednesday is football game at home for Kraig......Thursday soccer for Konnor and I, JV football game for everyone else, and Friday we travel to Montrose for the last regular season Varsity game. Saturday soccer at 9 am for Konnor, up to MSU for Kayla's game, and Kirk3 takes his driver's training road test. YIKES!! So needless to say probably won't get a lot of other things done besides life this week.

Proud to be a Parent!

when did I get sooo short?

Tonight was parent's night at HHS. Before the game we all gathered on the track and were introduced with our sons. It was really great to see all of the families that support their boys. We were in order by number and had to keep shifting down the track their were so many people. At one point we thought we were going to be around the curve. LOL Donna (THANKS!!) read my mind and came down to snap a few pictures.....I hadn't even thought ahead to ask her....my photography skills stink this year. The Hornets had another 41-0 shut out.
